The TCB and the Chinese Central Bank signed an understanding and cooperation memorandum on Monday 12th of December 2016, allowing a wider opening between the two countries on both financial and banking sectors.
The two central banks agreed on the principle to conclude a convention for a SWAP between the Yuan and the Tunisian Dinars in order to allow the payment of trade and financial operations with the local currency.
During this visit that allowed us to meet with the main Chinese financial operators such as the President of Bank of China, Chinese Development Bank, Fund China-Africa for the industrial cooperation, as well as the President of ICBC, the President of the CTCC was able to propose the project of free trade zone of Zarzis to the Chinese part, who were inclined to be part of this project.
Following this visit, Dr. Basly Mohamed President of the CTCC was received in course of December 2016 to Lanzhou capital of the city Gansu by the new elected mayor. This region as well as the town of Shanti and Ningxia represent the main cities of the Silk Road and they detain a large proportion of Chinese Muslim among their population.
